Paul Edward Goldschmidt (born September 10, 1987) is an American professional baseball first baseman for the Major League Baseball (MLB) St. Louis Cardinals.
Goldschmidt was lightly recruited out of The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas, and played for the Texas State Bobcats before being drafted in the eighth round by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2009. He made his Major League Baseball debut with them in 2011, and he was moved to the Cardinals during the 2018-19 offseason.
Goldschmidt has been in seven MLB All-Star games. During the 2013 season, he led the National League (NL) in home runs and runs batted in. He has received the National League Hank Aaron Award, the Gold Glove Award, and the Silver Slugger Award.
Goldschmidt was the NL Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player honour runner-up twice, in 2013 and 2015, before ultimately winning the honour in 2022.
