CJ met his future wife at Lehigh, which provided him both an excellent education and a platform to demonstrate his basketball abilities.

CJ McCollum attended the Pennsylvania-based university for four years, where Esposito also earned a B.A. in Behavioural Science. In 2013, she graduated from Magna Cum Laude and returned to Lehigh for a Master’s Degree in Engineering.

The attractive couple has been together since their college days, and their bond became stronger as CJ McCollum rose through the NBA ranks. They returned to their old school last March to see McCollum’s No. 3 jersey retired by the Lehigh basketball team. 

“All of the love he received, it was really cool,” Esposito said of CJ McCollum’s achievement, according to the school’s journal Brown and White. “It’s crazy; I think we always knew he’d accomplish a lot.” It’s incredible to see how much he’s done. I am quite proud of him.”

McCollum earned the Patriot League Player of the Year in both 2010 and 2012 while playing for the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. In the 2013 NBA draught, he was chosen tenth overall by the Portland Trail Blazers. 

After being a reserve for the first two years of his career, he became a full-time starter for the Trail Blazers in his third season after deciding to switch to shooting guard after the Blazers lost LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews, Nicolas Batum, and Robin Lopez in free agency at the end of the 2014-15 season. 

He was elected president of the National Basketball Players Association on August 7, 2021, succeeding Chris Paul. McCollum was moved to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2022, ending his nine-year tenure with the Blazers.
